First using InDesign, create a styleguide to be followed in the creation of a sports visualization video. The styleguide contained our branding colours, typography, HUD designs and storyboard images of how the video is going to look and feel.
Create animated HUDS from scratch in After Effects, to be used in a short video illustrating the momvent, force or methods being used in a professional sport of our choice.
I was able to source royalty free rock-climbing footage that felt bright and clean, which would make tracking hand and foot movements for the HUDS to follow would be much easier. The videos also helped me with my branding colour election and from there the vibe of the video came together.
The HUDS were created in Illustrator and moved into AfterEffects to be animated. With the backgrounds in the video being mostly climbing walls, they felt a little busy. Adding the glow effect to the HUDS allows them to stand out from the background, without adding too much more clutter to the background.
I love the clean design of this video and the colours used were fun and bright, without coming across as too childish and primary. The HUDS stood out and the colours moving between green, and orange helped quickly identify a more difficult route, or where maximum grip is required.
With all the pre-planning and HUD creation in Illustrator, this video came together with ease. I felt the video matched the storyboard vibe and provided the data in a quick, clean, and fun way.
